Wayanad's historic Kaniyambetta region holds vibrant legends regarding its name, with roots tracing back to tribal settlements and the battlefields of Pazhassi Raja. Throughout the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, the area transformed into a diverse cultural hub as Nairs, Muslims, and Travancore Christian farmers migrated alongside indigenous communities like the Paniyars and Kurichyas.
